Jame Roma (Us, the Roma)

As part of this project, Roma children learned about their cultural heritage. For almost half a year, together with Roma animators and artists, we collected and organized knowledge of the Romani language, names, legends, and customs, to finally build a real, though a mini-version, Gypsy camp.

The “Our Camp” event, prepared by the children, presented the results of their work: the legends of the Roma people, the book of Roma names and a Gypsy car. The event (at the Multicultural Center) was attended by students from nearby primary schools in Praga.

The “Jame Roma” project was implemented by the Foundation Dom Kultury in 2017, thanks to the funding from the Ministry of the Interior and Administration as part of a program for the integration of the Roma community in Poland 2014-2020. Agnieszka Caban was the project’s content supervisor.
